Project Senegal

In August 2019, Karpowership signed a contract with Senegal’s Electricity Authority (SENELEC) to deploy a Powership of 235 MW. Operations commenced in Dakar in October 2019 – only two months after the contract signing. In December 2021, an additional contract of 100 MW was signed. With an installed capacity of 335 MW, Karpowership has been supplying 20% of Senegal’s total electricity demand.

As a vertically integrated energy transition company, Karpowership also offers one-stop shop fuel supply solutions for cleaner power generation to reduce GHG emissions. In Senegal, we are working with SENELEC to convert the operation into an “LNG-to-Power” project and have already deployed one of our LNG assets, KARMOL LNGT Africa to the country. We built an undersea and land gas pipeline connecting our FSRU to our Powership, and to a land-based Power Plant in Belair, supplying natural gas for both facilities.
