Biggest Powership Fleet of the World

Our Group has started the construction of the biggest floating power plant in the world and launched it in 2016. Khan Class Powerships, with a capacity of 470 MW, are designed to change the future of many countries. Khan Class Powerships are 300 meters long and 50 meters wide. With only a depth of 5 meters, they can easily fit into ports of countries where they will be generating power.

All our Powerships are installed with Dual-Fuel engines, on-board high voltage substation, on-board fuel storage, and on-board accommodations.

Powership in 10 Questions

1-What is Powership?

Powerships are ship or barge mounted, fully integrated floating power plants. With wide ranges of installed capacities for utility size operations and no completion or construction risk, Powerships are ready for power generation within a short period of time. Power is fed directly into the transmission network from the onboard High Voltage substation, not requiring any land acquisition.

2-How Powerships work?

Powerships are designed and built utilizing the latest dual fuel engine technology, operating in combined cycle mode to maximize efficiency. Fuel flexibility through Low Sulfur HFO, Natural Gas or LNG ensures the lowest cost of delivered power with no capital outlay.

3-Who needs Powerships?

We developed the Powership solution for public and private sector:
•Local and National Governments and Ministries
•Energy, oil and natural resources
•Electrical utility companies, national and state

4-How Powerships are installed?

Powerships can be installed at a coastal site where there is an available substation for electrical connection and suitable marine conditions for berthing or mooring. Mooring will be followed by interconnection of Powership to main grid. Finally fuel connection takes place either from on-shore facilities via pipeline or through bunkering.

5-What are the basic site requirements to host a Powership?

Host locations require minimal onshore infrastructure and are ready to commence once Karpowership receives the go-ahead to deliver the Powerships. Construction works include a transmission interconnection point, a small site office and stores adjacent to the Powership. The Powerships come complete with all spares and consumables, built-in workshop for required repairs, high-voltage substation (no new substation on-shore is required), and a built-in fuel storage for the fuel to be converted into energy.

6-Currently where do existing Powerships operate?

Cuba, Senegal, Gambia, Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Sierra Leone, Ghana, Mozambique, Sudan, Lebanon and Indonesia.

7-What is the contract type?

Powerships are quickly deployed, utility grade power plants, available under Electricity Generation Services Contracts, Power Rental Contracts, Energy Conversion Works Contracts or Power Purchase Agreements all themed to meet the requirements of each off-taker and urgent demands of electricity.

9-Who operates Powership?

We deliver a turn-key project, where we undertake mobilization, site preparation, operation and maintenance, contract management and if requested, fuel supply, all provided by our in-house teams.

10-Why Powership should be preferred?

Powership is a fast track solution that delivers electricity in 90 days. It is also high efficient using the most economical fuel available in the market and with a higher efficiency compared to similar solutions that lead to an economical generation cost. Powerships are also integrated and provides main services on board such as accommodation, fuel storage, O&M and point of connection to the grid.
