Karpowership Indonesia Supports Education in Bolok region, Kupang
Distributes 200 school supplies for elementary school students in the area where Karadeniz Powership Gökhan Bey is located, as a contribution for education.
 
Kupang, 30 May 2017 – Working partner PT. PLN (National Electricity Company) Persero, and PT Karpowership Indonesia (PT KPI) has launched a corporate social responsibility (CSR) program in Bolok, Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara. PT KPI provides educational tools in the form of school supplies for 200 elementary students in Bolok, West Kupang. This is in line with the company's mission to contribute in advancing the education world in the country.
 
The ceremony for the 200 school supplies is inaugurated by the Wife of East Nusa Tenggara Governor, Lusia Adinda Lebu Raya, who was accompanied by Director of Karpowership in Asia Region, Ufuk Berk, and xxx representing PT. PLN Persero. Local government officials of West Kupang regency such as the Head of Education Office and the students who received the School Kits also attended the ceremony.
 
Karpowership Indonesia distributed 200 school supplies for elementary school students, in the region by the site of Karadeniz Powership Gökhan Bey. The packages consist of bags, uniforms and stationery that will motivate the kids for learning.
 
Ufuk also thanked the residents of West Kupang and particularly Bolok, over their warm welcome since the Powership arrived to help the electricity supply for the community. “We would like to thank the Local Government and the people of West Kupang for their tremendous welcome since we came here. We hope that what we do today will strengthen our good relationship," said Ufuk Berk in Bolok, West Kupang, on Tuesday (30/05).
 
He added that Karadeniz Powership Gökhan Bey arrived in Kupang on December 2016 and since then has been supplying electricity uninterruptedly. He hopes that the students can learn in a more comfortable condition, because their facilities and school supplies are already available.
 
Not only in Kupang, but this activity has also been done in other cities such as Manado and Lombok. He hopes that with this aid, students can be more eager to go to school with their new school supplies. Following Kupang, Karpowership Indonesia will donate school supplies in the areas close to its Powerships in Medan and Ambon.
 
“This program is a first step for Karpowership Indonesia to make a real contribution to the Indonesian government in building a better education. In addition, it can hopefully be a provision for Indonesian younger generation," he concluded.

Karpowership has agreed to cooperate with the state-owned PT PLN for five "floating power plants" (Powerships) with a total capacity of 540 MW. The Powerships are to supply power to five different islands in Indonesia. Karadeniz Powership Zeynep Sultan, with a capacity of 125 MW, has been supplying electricity in Amurang, Manado since January 2016, Karadeniz Powership Gökhan Bey has been supplying electricity  in Kupang since December 2016, Karadeniz Powership Yasin Bey has been supplying electricity in Ambon since April 2017, and Karadeniz Powership Onur Sultan has arrived in Medan on May 2017.
